The second NCELP residential took place at the University of Oxford on 6-7 September 2019. Once again, the two day residential brought together 18 Specialist Teachers with researchers, CPD providers and resource developers.

Themes for the conference were the online digital game ‘Gaming Grammar’, using and balancing the target language and English in the classroom, teaching vocabulary using Computer Assisted Language Learning (such as Quizlet), motivation, using challenging texts, and the development of the NCELP schemes of work and accompanying resources.

The Specialist Teachers also showcased some of their work with their own schools and their Hub schools. This included hearing from pupils themselves about their opinions about NCELP resources and classroom activities.

Many of the sessions were underpinned by findings from research (see www.oasis-database.org). And see the NCELP Resources Portal for many of the materials and ideas that were shared.

Comments from Specialist Teachers:

Great to see what we are all doing!
Excellent input, great examples for immediate use, and inspiring. Also some good useful classroom management technique reminders!
